Landscape Designs current project, Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

Published by David Keegan 4 years ago

This latest landscape design project is for a series of gardens across a 1.75 acre plot. The designs for the new gardens will include mature avenue trees planted to make more of the very long drive to the house alongside which will be  a new orchard planted with a wide variety of fruit and nut trees from eating apples to crab apples to Quince and Medlar to name but a few.  Driving down the avenue the orchard will also become a wild flower meadow with paths cut between the trees whilst also creating a haven for pollinating insects (Scroll down to continue)

Garden designs also include a large overflow parking area is just to the right as well as triple garage as screened from the house with a new planting line and pleached hedge. This screening allowed me to design in a more intimate courtyard area to the house itself whilst screen out the triple garage. A new planted bed is added to the house side of the pleached hedging to add colour texture and visual form from the house windows. This courtyard are is deliberately contemporary with inlaid section of black basalt amount a tightly clipped lawn. Illuminated pots will highlight focal points along the front elevations of the house.

A roof garden to one wing of the house will give elevated views to the surrounding countryside but will also be the perfect socialising area with integrated outdoor kitchens all set within a lush planting scheme of grasses herbs and trees.

Garden designs for the rear gardens include a stepped water feature and sculptural screens all set in a pared back oriental style minimalist garden. Low level boundary hedging to the back of the raised beds and water feature will bring the surrounding landscape into the garden exiting and borrowing the view to create a greater sense of depth. Extensive remodelling and renovations work are due to start on the house in September 2019 with phase one landscaping works due to start in winter 2019 with the instillation of the new orchard and wildflower meadows.
